About Us

The Hopland Band of Pomo Indians have occupied our aboriginal lands of Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake Counties for hundreds of years. We originally thrived on the natural surroundings of the Sanel Valley that was rich in deer, salmon, trout, acorns and berries.

The Sho-Ka-Wah Casino opened in August of 1998 with 308 slot machines, had an expansion of a 250 seat bingo hall, and has since expanded to a total of over 540 slot machines, 8 table games, and 3 food venues.

Over the course of the past several years, the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians has succeeded in providing financial assistance and services to many organizations, building a stronger support system for our members (including health benefits, educational assistance, housing and social services) and upgrading infrastructure for schools and libraries.
